MOTION:CADDIGAN November 25,1997 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND:JENKINS Ord,No.97-106 <br />RE:ADOPT ORDINANCE ENACTING A PARTIAL TAX EXEMPTION FOR <br />CERTAIN PROPERTY WHICH IS REHABILITATED,RENOVATED <br />OR REPLACED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF <br />ARTICLE 3,CHAPTER 32 OF TITLE 58.1 OF THE CODE OF <br />VIRGINIA,ANN. <br />ACTION:APPROVED <br />WHEREAS,properties in the County are aging and deteriorating;and <br />WHEREAS,structures that have become deteriorated have an adverse impact <br />on the value of adjoining properties and the County in general;and <br />WHEREAS,improving the overall quality,condition and appearance ofexisting <br />property in the County will make Prince William County a more appealing place for <br />homeowners and businesses to invest;and <br />WHEREAS,a program authorized by Title 58.1,Chapter 32,Article 3 of the <br />Code of Virginia,Ann.,provides an additional tool for the County to encourage the <br />rehabilitation or renovation of deteriorating property;and <br />WHEREAS,it appears to be in the public interest to adopt an ordinance <br />enacting such a program; <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED that the Prince William Board of <br />County Supervisors does hereby adopt the attached ordinance enacting a partial exemption <br />program for certain rehabilitated real property in accordance with the terms of the attached <br />proposed ordinance; <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Prince William Board of <br />County Supervisors will review the program annually for the first five years of the program. <br />ATTACHMENT:Article XIII <br />Votes: <br />Ayes:Barg,Caddigan,Hill,Jenkins,McQuigg,Seefeldt,Thompson,Wilbourn <br />Nays:None <br />Absent from Vote:None <br />Absent from Meeting:None <br />CERTIFIED COPY <br />Clerk to’th~Board /
