MOTION:JENKINS July 22,1997 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND:CADDIGAN Ord.No.97-73 <br />RE:PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER AMENDMENTS TO CHAPTER 31 <br />OF THE PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY CODE <br />ACTION:FAILED <br />WHEREAS,effective July 1,1997,VA Code Ann,§18.2-308 authorizes the <br />Board of County Supervisors,by ordinance,to require that any applicant for a concealed <br />handgun permit must submit to fingerprinting for the purposes of obtaining the applicant’s state <br />and national criminal history record;and <br />WHEREAS,amendments to Chapter 31 of the Prince William County Code <br />have been prepared to meet the guidelines of §18.2-308,VA Code Ann,and public law 92- <br />544,which amendments require that an applicant for a concealed handgun permit shall be <br />fingerprinted and that such fingerprints shall be forwarded through the Virginia State Police to <br />the FBI for a national criminal history check;and <br />WHEREAS,the Board considers adoption of the proposed amendments to be in <br />the public interest; <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED that the Board of County <br />Supervisors of Prince William County does hereby adopt the attached amendments to Chapter <br />31 of the Prince William County Code. <br />ATTACHMENT:Proposed Amendment to Chapter 31 <br />Votes: <br />Ayes:Barg,Caddigan,Jenkins,Seefeldt <br />Nays:Hill,McQuigg,Thompson,Wilbourn <br />Absent from Vote:None <br />Absent from Meeting:None <br />For Information: <br />County Attorney <br />County Executive <br />Chief of Police <br />Clerk of the Circuit Court <br />CERTIFIED COPY
