MOTION: NOHE September 14, 2010 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND: COVINGTON Ord. No. 10 -44 <br />RE: ADOPTION OF AN ORDINANCE TO CONSIDER AN AMENDMENT <br />TO THE PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY CODE BY APPROVAL OF AN <br />ORDINANCE TO RESTRICT PARKING IN FRONT OF COMMUNITY <br />MAILBOXES AT THE INTERSECTIONS OF TANGO LANE (STATE <br />ROUTE- 3147) AT THRIFT LANE (STATE ROUTE- 3148), TANGO <br />LANE AT TRENTDALE DRIVE (STATE ROUTE- 3007), AND TAG <br />COURT (STATE ROUTE- 3146), AT TRENTDALE DRIVE PURSUANT <br />TO THE AUTHORITY GRANTED BY SECTION 46.2 -1222 OF THE <br />CODE OF VIRGINIA — COLES MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT <br />ACTION: APPROVED <br />WHEREAS, the parking of vehicles in this area causes safety concerns; and <br />WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Transportation did not recommend no <br />parking signs; however, stated that they had no objection to Prince William County installing <br />no parking signs under a permit; and <br />WHEREAS, a request was received by the Prince William County Department <br />of Transportation requesting the no parking designation; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William County Department of Transportation and <br />Trentdale Homeowners Association are in agreement with installing no parking signs; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 46.2 -1222 of the Code of Virginia provides for the <br />installation of signs regulating parking on secondary highways by certain counties; and <br />WHEREAS, notwithstanding any other provision of law, the governing bodies <br />of Fairfax, James City, Loudoun, Montgomery, Prince George, Prince William, and York <br />Counties by ordinance may (i) restrict or prohibit parking on any part of the state secondary <br />system of highways within their respective boundaries, (ii) provide for the classification of <br />vehicles for the purpose of these restrictions and prohibitions, and (iii) provide that the <br />violation of the ordinance shall constitute a traffic infraction and prescribe penalties therefore; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Trentdale Drive, Tango Lane, Thrift Lane, and Tag Court are <br />secondary roads; and <br />WHEREAS, a duly advertised public hearing was held to consider the <br />permanent adoption, by ordinance, of no parking areas in these locations; and <br />
