No. 10 -35 <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT #PLN2009- 00284, ASDEE <br />LANE - COLES MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT <br />FAILED <br />WHEREAS, this is a request to amend the Comprehensive Long -Range Land <br />Use Plan to redesignate +/- 10 acres from Semi -Rural Residential (SRR) to Suburban <br />Residential Low (SRL). The site is identified on County Maps as GPINs 8193 -25 -8876, 8193- <br />25 -9397 8193 -36 -1704, 8193 -36 -2771, and 8193 -27 -8795 (pt) and is located in the <br />Government Center Sector Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, under Section 15.2 -2229 of the Virginia Code, the Prince William <br />Board of County Supervisors may consider amendments to the Comprehensive Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors as part of the <br />2008 Comprehensive Plan Update appointed the Land Use Advisory Committee (LUAC), an <br />eight- member citizen committee, to review and make recommendations to the Planning <br />Commission about the Long -Range Land Use Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the LUAC recommended an amendment to the Comprehensive <br />Plan for these properties to change the Comprehensive Plan designation of approximately 8.88 <br />acres from SRR to SRL, at the site located on Asdee Lane near its intersection with Coventry <br />Glen Drive; and <br />WHEREAS, on March 17, 2009, the Prince William Board of County <br />Supervisors initiated review of the requested Comprehensive Plan Amendment, to include a <br />wider study area; and referred it to the Planning Commission; and <br />WHEREAS, staff has reviewed the subject application and the Government <br />Center Sector Plan and recommends approval of the comprehensive plan amendment, as stated <br />in the staff report; and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on this item on <br />May 19, 2010 and recommends denial as stated in Planning Commission Res. No. 10 -076; and <br />WHEREAS, a Prince William Board of County Supervisors' public hearing, <br />duly advertised in a local newspaper for a period of two weeks, was held on July 27, 2010, and <br />interested citizens were heard; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed Comprehensive Plan designation of Suburban <br />Residential Low (SRL) is compatible with the surrounding development; and <br />
