MOTION: COVINGTON June 22, 2010 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND: NOHE Ord. No. 10 -30 <br />RE: COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT #PLN2009 -00307 <br />PRINCE WILLIAM PARKWAY / DUMFRIES ROAD - <br />BRENTSVILLE MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT <br />ACTION: APPROVED <br />WHEREAS, under Section 15.2 -2229 of the Virginia Code, the Board of <br />County Supervisors may consider amendments to the Comprehensive Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board, as part of the 2008 Comprehensive Plan Update, <br />appointed the Land Use Advisory Committee (LUAC), an eight- member citizen committee, to <br />review and make recommendations to the Planning Commission about the Long -Range Land <br />Use Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, LUAC recommended an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan <br />for these properties to change the Comprehensive Plan designation of approximately 17.70 <br />acres from Agricultural or Estate (AE) to Semi -Rural Residential (SRR), and Community <br />Employment Center (CEC), at the site located along the north side of Prince William Parkway <br />on either side of its intersection with Dumfries Road and north of the terminus of Brentsville <br />Road, identified as GPIN 7794 -76 -1613 (portion), zoned A -1, Highway Corridor Overlay <br />District and Airport Safety Overlay District; and <br />WHEREAS, this request was initiated by the Board of County Supervisors by <br />Resolution 09 -217 on March 17, 2009; and <br />WHEREAS, staff has reviewed the subject application and recommends <br />approval, as stated in the staff report; and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission, held a public hearing on this item on <br />May 19, 2010 and recommends denial, as stated in Resolution No. 10 -078; and <br />WHEREAS, a Board of County Supervisors' public hearing, duly advertised in <br />a local newspaper for a period of two weeks, was held on June 22, 2010, and interested citizens <br />were heard; and <br />WHEREAS, general welfare and good zoning practice are served by the <br />approval of the application; <br />1 <br />
