MOTION:CADDIGAN <br />SECOND:BARG <br />April 8,1997 <br />Regular Meeting <br />Ord.No.97-36 <br />RE:EMERGENCY AMENDMENT OF PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY CODE <br />SECTION 16-55,PANHANDLING ORDINANCE <br />ACTION:APPROVED <br />WHEREAS,the Board desires that charitable and other persons and groups be <br />able to solicit from the medians and travel lanes once a year for a limited period of time;and <br />WHEREAS,the County Attorney has advised that such solicitation would be a <br />violation of the County Panhandling Ordinance,County Code §16-55;and <br />WHEREAS,the need for such solicitation from medians and travel lanes <br />justifies an emergency amendment repealing the Panhandling Ordinance; <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED that the Board does hereby amend <br />Section 16-55 of the Prince William County Code as shown on the attachment hereto and <br />directs it’s Clerk to schedule and advertise a public hearing for permanent adoption within 60 <br />days. <br />Votes: <br />Ayes:Barg,Caddigan,Hill,Jenkins,McQuigg,Seefeldt,Thompson,Wilbourn <br />Nays:None <br />Absent from Vote:None <br />Absent from Meeting:None <br />For Information: <br />County Attorney <br />CERTIFIED COPY GL~ç~2~t~’ <br />Clerk/to the Board
