MOTION• BARG December 20, 2005 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND: NOHE Ord. No. 05-92 <br />RE: APPROVE CHANGES TO BOUNDARIES, POLLING PLACES, AND <br />NAMES FOR THE BULL RUN, CATHARPIN, EVERGREEN, <br />HAYMARKET, PLANTATION, STONEWALL, WESTGATE, TYLER, <br />BRISTOW RUN, LINTON HALL, JACKSON, COLES, PURCELL, <br />RIPPON, FEATHERSTONE, AND RIVER OAKS PRECINCTS <br />ACTION: APPROVED <br />WHEREAS, Prince William County redistricted its magisterial districts, <br />including the designation of voting precincts, polling places and precinct names, in 2001 using <br />2000 census data; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William County redistricting plan was approved by the <br />U.S. Department of Justice; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William County Electoral Board has made <br />recommendations to change boundaries, polling places, and names for precincts due to <br />population growth, polling place and election administration issues; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed changes do not involve moving voters to different <br />election districts; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William County Electoral Board presented its <br />recommendations for changes to the Board of County Supervisors in an open meeting on July <br />12, 2005; and <br />WHEREAS, the Electoral Board received and considered public input, and <br />consequently revised its July 12, 2005 recommendations to accommodate the public input; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 24.2-306, Virginia Code Annotated, <br />the Prince William Board of County Supervisors published proposed changes to the Bull Run, <br />Catharpin, Evergreen, Haymarket, Plantation, Stonewall, Westgate, Tyler, Bristow Run, Linton <br />Hall, Jackson, Coles, Purcell, Rippon, Featherstone, and River Oaks Precincts in the Manassas <br />Journal Messenger and Potomac News newspapers having general circulation in the County; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors held a public <br />hearing on this date, at which time interested citizens were heard and the Board considered the <br />proposed changes; and <br />WHEREAS, any proposed changes must be pre -cleared with the United States <br />Department of Justice, which may take 60 days or more; <br />
