MOTION: BARG October 4, 2005 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND: CADDIGAN Ord. No. 05-67 <br />RE: AMEND CHAPTER 13 OF THE PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY CODE <br />TO BROADEN THE DEFINITION OF AN INOPERATIVE VEHICLE <br />AND TO CORRESPOND TO THE VIRGINIA CODE <br />ACTION: APPROVED <br />WHEREAS, Section 13-482 of the Prince William County Code defines an <br />inoperative motor vehicle as any motor vehicle on which there are displayed neither valid <br />license plates nor a valid inspection decal; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 15.2-905 of the Virginia Code grants the County the <br />authority to define an inoperative motor vehicle as any motor vehicle that does not display <br />either valid license plates or a valid inspection decal; and <br />WHEREAS, there is a desire to amend Section 13-482 of the Prince William <br />County Code to define an inoperative motor vehicle as any motor vehicle that does not display <br />either valid license plates or a valid inspection decal;, and <br />WHEREAS, there is also a desire to amend other sections of Chapter 13 of the <br />Prince William County Code to correspond to Section 15.2-905 of the Virginia Code; and <br />WHEREAS, prior to amending the County Code.. the Board of County <br />Supervisors must conduct a public hearing, after advertisement, in accordance with § 15.2- <br />1427, VA Code Ann.; and <br />WHEREAS, a public hearing was advertised and held to consider amending <br />Section 13-482 of the Prince William County Code, to define an inoperative motor vehicle as <br />any motor vehicle that does not display either valid license plates or a valid inspection decal, <br />and to amend other sections of Chapter 13 of the Prince William County Code to correspond to <br />Section 15.2-905 of the Vii--ijilia Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors finds that it is in <br />the best interest of the public health, safety, and welfare to make the proposed amendments; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the Prince William Board of <br />County Supervisors does hereby amend Section 13-482 and other sections of Chapter 13 of the <br />Prince William County Code to correspond to Section 15.2-905 of the Virginia Code, as set <br />forth in the attachment hereto. <br />
