MOTION: JENKINS August 2, 2005 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND: COVINGTON Ord. No. 05-53 <br />RE: ADOPT LOCAL CODE AMENDMENTS TO CHAPTER 9 OF THE <br />PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY CODE PURSUANT TO THE <br />STATEWIDE FIRE PREVENTION CODE <br />ACTION: APPROVED <br />WHEREAS, Section 101.5 of the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code <br />allows a local governing body to adopt fire prevention regulations that are more restrictive or <br />more extensive in scope than the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William County Fire Marshal's Office has determined <br />the need for a greater level of fire safety regulation within the County and developed the <br />necessary fire safety regulations to achieve such; and <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of Prince William County have had the opportunity to <br />comment on such additional fire safety regulations; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Supervisors has reviewed such additional fire <br />safety regulations; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Supervisors recognizes the need for such <br />additional fire safety regulations to protect the citizens and businesses of Prince William <br />County; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Supervisors has conducted a duly advertised <br />public hearing on August 2, 2005; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the Prince William Board of <br />County Supervisors does hereby approve local amendments to the Virginia Statewide Fire <br />Prevention Code; <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Prince William Board of County <br />Supervisors does hereby amend Chapter 9 of the Prince William County Code by adoption of <br />the recommended amendments proposed by the Fire Marshal's Office. <br />
