Regular Meeting <br />SECOND: NONE Ord. No. 05-47 <br />RE: COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT #PLN2004-00430, <br />KENSINGTON PLACE — WOODBRIDGE MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT <br />WHEREAS, under Section 15.2-2229 of the Virginia Code, the Prince William <br />Board of County Supervisors may consider amendments to the Comprehensive Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, an applicant requested an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan <br />in 2004 in accordance with the Board's policy for consideration for out -of -turn plan <br />amendments within Potomac Communities; and <br />WHEREAS, on October 26, 2004, the Board initiated the requested amendment <br />and referred it to the Planning Commission; and <br />WHEREAS, the request is to change the long-range land use designation of <br />approximately 11 acres on York Drive, near the northbound 1-95 ramp to eastbound Prince <br />William Parkway, and identified on County maps as GPINs 8392-13-7652 and 8392-23-3388, <br />from Suburban Residential High to Urban Residential High; and <br />WHEREAS, the requested plan amendment is accompanied by a rezoning <br />application to allow the development of 333 multi -family units on the property; and <br />WHEREAS, staff has reviewed the subject application and recommends <br />approval of the Comprehensive Plan Amendment; and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on this item on <br />May 18, 2005 and recommends approval as stated in Planning Commission Res. No. 05-055; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors' public hearing, <br />duly advertised in a local newspaper for a period of two weeks, was held on June 28, 2005, and <br />interested citizens were heard; and <br />WHEREAS, the general welfare and good planning practice are served by the <br />approval of the application; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the Prince William Board of <br />County Supervisors does hereby approve Comprehensive Plan Amendment #PLN2004-00430, <br />Kensington Place. <br />
