W at 11"T 0 4 <br />WHEREAS, the on -street parking of boat trailers and similar vehicles causes <br />safety concerns in an area of the County which includes, among other neighborhoods, <br />Westridge, Lake Ridge and Rolling Brook, and roughly bounded on the south by the Prince <br />William Parkway and Minnieville Road and on the north by the Occoquan; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William County Police Department and the Department <br />of Public Works have recommended the creation of a new, single district, to be called Parking <br />District 1, which would include parking districts formerly created by the Board and called <br />Westridge (Resolution 03-36), Rolling Brook (Resolution 04-12) and Lake Ridge (Resolution <br />04-48), plus additional territory to create a logical and readily enforceable boundary; and <br />WHEREAS, naming the new single district Parking District One will clarify <br />confusion caused by the current designation of the "Lake Ridge Parking District" when <br />associated with conflicting views of the bounds of Lake Ridge, and expanding the district into <br />more clear boundaries will assist with signing designation and enforcement and will promote <br />the public health, safety and welfare; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 13-320.1 of the Prince William County <br />Code, the Board of County Supervisors has received resolutions from homeowners associations <br />accounting for 51 % of the parcels located in the proposed new district; and <br />WHEREAS, a public hearing was conducted June 7, 2005 to consider the <br />creation of a new parking district to restrict on -street parking of trailers, watercraft, boat <br />trailers, motor homes and camping trailers; and <br />WHEREAS, staff recommends approval of the implementation of Section 13- <br />320.1 of the Prince William County Code to create and confirm Parking District One; <br />
