MOTION: JENKINS September 19, 2006 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND: STEWART Ord. No. 06-82 <br />HE: DECLARE THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 14705 CARDINAL DRIVE, <br />WOODBRIDGE, VIRGINIA, A NUISANCE AND AUTHORIZE <br />DEMOLITION OF THE STRUCTURES TO ABATE THE NUISANCE— <br />NEABSCO MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT <br />ACTION: APPROVED <br />WHEREAS, the property located at 14705 Cardinal Drive, Woodbridge, <br />Virginia, is dilapidated and detrimental to the safety, health, morals, or welfare of the <br />community and are therefore blighted because of the following conditions: <br />■ Condemned by the Building Code Official, <br />■ Vacant for more than one (1) year, <br />■ Inadequate Utilities; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 36-49.1:1(H), VA Code Ann., allows the Board of County <br />Supervisors to determine if a blighted property should be declared a nuisance; and <br />WHEREAS, on September 5, 2006, the Board of County Supervisors <br />authorized a public hearing to determine if the property is a nuisance; and <br />WHEREAS, the County Attorney's Office sent notice of the public hearing, via <br />certified mail, to the owner of the property; and <br />WHEREAS, a public hearing, duly advertised in a local newspaper for a period <br />of two weeks, was held on September 19, 2006, and interested citizens, including the property <br />owner, were heard; and <br />WHEREAS, at the public hearing, the Board of County Supervisors agreed to <br />grant the owner thirty (30) days to demolish and remove the structure using the owner's own <br />resources; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors has determined <br />the property located at 14705 Cardinal Drive, Woodbridge, Virginia, to be blighted and a <br />nuisance pursuant to Section 36-49.1:1(H), VA Code Ann.; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors has determined <br />that staff may enter the property to demolish and remove all structures or any parts thereof on <br />or atter October 20, 2006, (being the thirty-first (31 st) day following the public hearing) if the <br />owner has failed to complete the demolition; <br />
