MOTION: JENKINS March 21, 2006 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND: NOHE Ord. No. 06-36 <br />RE: AMEND SECTION 13-320.1. OF THE PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY <br />CODE TO RESTRICT THE ON -STREET PARKING OF <br />WATERCRAFT, BOAT TRAILERS, MOTOR HOMES AND CAMPING <br />TRAILERS IN THE DESIGNATED AREA IN PRINCE WILLIAM <br />COUNTY <br />ACTION: APPROVED <br />WHEREAS, on December 6, 2005, a request was received by the Department <br />of Public Works from the Prince William Board of County Supervisors in the form of a <br />directive to conduct a public information campaign to solicit public input on restricting the on - <br />street parking of watercraft, boat trailers, motor homes, and camping trailers throughout the <br />County; And <br />WHEREAS, extensive efforts were made to communicate the potential <br />restrictions to the citizens of Prince William County by way of town meetings to receive citizen <br />input. Information was included in the Neighborhood News, which is a newsletter distributed <br />to approximately 400 individuals electronically, as well as 600 hardcopies distributed to <br />homeowners associations and civic groups; public service mulounceinents were run on Channel <br />23; newspaper articles have appeared both in the Washington Post and Potomac News and the <br />public hearing has been duly advertised in local media; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 15.2 - 1427 of the Virginia Code, the <br />Prince William Board of County Supervisors conducted a public hearing to obtain public <br />comments to restrict on -street parking of watercraft, boat trailers, motor homes, and camping <br />trailers; and <br />WHEREAS, the on -street parking of watercraft, boat trailers, motor homes, and <br />camping trailers causes safety concerns in the County because of the ability of such vehicles to <br />obstruct sight distances on the roads and occupy valuable parking spaces; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the Prince William Board of <br />County Supervisors does hereby amend Section 13-320.1 of the Prince William County Code <br />to restrict all on -street parking of watercraft, boat trailers, motor homes, and camping trailers <br />on all secondary streets within the designated area as outlined on the attached map referenced <br />as Attaclunent B and as fin-ther described as follows: <br />• Cedar Run stream from the Fauquier County line to Aden Road <br />■ East along Aden Road to the intersection of Aden Road and Bristow Road <br />■ North West along Bristow Road to the intersection of Bristow Road and <br />Independent Hill Drive <br />
