MOTION: CADDIGAN <br />SECOND: PRINCIPI <br />September 6, 2016 <br />Regular Meeting <br />Ord. No. 16-34 <br />RE: PROHIBIT PARKING ON THE NORTH SIDE OF CLANCY DRIVE — <br />STATE ROUTE 1188, BETWEEN RIVER RIDGE BOULEVARD — <br />STATE ROUTE 1189 AND KIRBY DRIVE — STATE ROUTE 1187, <br />PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY GRANTED BY SECTION 46.2-1222 <br />OF THE CODE OF VIRGINIA — POTOMAC MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT <br />ACTION: APPROVED <br />WHEREAS, requests have been received through the Potomac District <br />Supervisor's office and the Prince William County Department of Transportation (PWC DOT) <br />asking for no parking signs on Clancy Drive. This location has no driveways and serves as <br />overflow parking; and <br />WHEREAS, on March 15, 2016, the DOT received a resolution from the <br />Southbridge Community Association, which requestED no parking on Clancy Drive in the <br />Potomac Magisterial District; and <br />WHEREAS, the PWC DOT installed notice signs soliciting public comments <br />on the proposed no parking from April 22, 2016, to May 6, 2016. Eight citizens called in to <br />comment, seven were in support and one was opposed; and <br />WHEREAS, the Virginia DOT has no objection to Prince William County <br />installing no parking signs under a permit; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 46.2-1222 of the Code of Virginia provides for the <br />installation of signs regulating parking on secondary highways by certain counties; and <br />WHEREAS, Clancy Drive — State Route 1188 is a secondary road; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors voted on <br />August 3, 2016, by Resolution No. 16-636, to authorize a public hearing to consider the <br />adoption of an ordinance to prohibit parking on Clancy Drive - State Route 1188, pursuant to <br />the authority granted by Section 46.2-1222 of the Code of Virginia in the Potomac Magisterial <br />District; and <br />WHEREAS, a public hearing has been duly advertised for this purpose and was <br />conducted on September 6, 2016, pursuant to Section 15.2-1427 VA Code Ann., and all <br />interested parties were heard; <br />
