MOTION:CADDIGAN December 9,1997 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND:JENKINS Res.No.97-997 <br />RE:BOARD POLICY ON ACCEPTANCE OF COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />AMENDMENT APPLICATIONS REGARDING THE CURRENT 1990 <br />AND PROPOSED 1997 COMPREHENSIVE PLANS <br />ACTION:APPROVED <br />WHEREAS,the Board of County Supervisors created the Citizens’Task Force <br />to recommend to the Planning Commission amendments to the 1990 Comprehensive Plan;and <br />WHEREAS,citizens and landowners were asked to submit individual requests <br />for specific Comprehensive Plan map and/or text amendments to the Citizens’Task Force for <br />its consideration and recommendation to the Planning Commission;and <br />WHEREAS,the Citizens’Task Force did consider a number of such requests <br />and made its recommendations on them to the Planning Commission;and <br />WHEREAS,the Board of County Supervisors had determined that general <br />welfare and good planning practice would be served by limiting Comprehensive Plan <br />amendments to once annually;and <br />WHEREAS,the Planning Commission and Board of County Supervisors are in <br />the process of reviewing the Proposed 1997 Comprehensive Plan; <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the deadline for applications <br />for Comprehensive Plan amendments shall be delayed,from the first Friday in January 1998 to <br />one month after Board of County Supervisors’adoption ofthe 1997 Comprehensive Plan; <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Prince William Board of County <br />Supervisors has also determined that an exception to this policy is appropriate for targeted <br />industries and basic businesses as defined in the “marketing plan for economic development” <br />and for staff-recommended housekeeping or technical amendments. <br />Votes: <br />Ayes:Barg,Caddigan,Hill,Jenkins,McQuigg,Seefeldt,Thompson,Wilbourn <br />Nays:None <br />Absent from Vote:None <br />Absent from Meeting:None <br />For information: <br />Acting Planning Director <br />CERTIFIED COPY
