MOTION:CADDIGAN March 18,1997 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND:WILBOUTRN Res,No,97-227 <br />RE:ESTABLISH SIX YEAR INTERSTATE/PRIMARY ROADWAY <br />ALLOCATION PRIORiTIES <br />ACTION:APPROVED <br />WHEREAS,the Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a public <br />hearing in the City of Fairfax on March 21,1997,to solicit input on the prioritization of funding <br />for six year interstate/primary roadway funds;and <br />WHEREAS,an improved transportation system is a high priority for the Prince <br />William Board of County Supervisors and the citizens ofthe County;and <br />WHEREAS,construction ofthe projects listed below is essential to improving <br />the transportation system in Prince William County and Northern Virginia; <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Prince William Board of <br />County Supervisors does hereby establish the following priorities for the upcoming six year <br />interstate/primary roadway allocation process: <br />1.Funding to complete right-of-way acquisition and construction of the Route 234 Bypass <br />between Route 28 and Brentsviule Road, <br />2.Funding to accelerate the redesign and reconstruction of thei-66fRoute 29 interchange <br />program construction.This project should be part of the HOV extension from Route 234 to <br />Route 29 (Gainesville). <br />3.Funding for improvements to Route 28 between the City of Manassas and Route 215. <br />4.Funding for right-of-way acquisition and construction for projects that have been <br />engineered.These Projects include the widening of Route 234 between Montclair and the <br />City ofManassas,and the reconstruction of Route 234 between 1-95 and U.S.1,including <br />its interchanges with 1-95 and U.S.1. <br />5.Funding for continued improvements to the Route 1/Route 123 interchange,as well as new <br />engineering allocations for the Tn-County Parkway (Route 28 Bypass),Route 234 Bypass <br />North,Route 28 and Route 29,and additional commuter parking opportunities in the 1-95 <br />and 1-66 corridors.
