MOTION:HILL <br />SECOND:JENKINS <br />March 11,1997 <br />Regular Meeting <br />Res.No.97-204 <br />RE:COMMEND -JOHN HARPER-DALE CITY RECREATION CENTER <br />ACTION:APPROVED <br />WHEREAS,John Harper,Jr.through sound managerial procedures,has professionally <br />administered the operation of the Dale City Recreation Center since October 6,1987,developing creative <br />and enjoyable programs for the benefit ofthe residents of Dale City and Prince William County;and <br />WHEREAS,Mr.Harper,has increased program participation from 132,734 in Fiscal <br />Year 1995 to 176,703 members in Fiscal Year 1996 with such innovations as a licensed preschool <br />program and the neighborhood school “Mentor Program”with Minnieville Elementary School;and <br />WHEREAS,Mr.Harper has encouraged the physical growth of the Dale City <br />Recreation Center by having been influential in the renovations to the aquatics facility including the pool, <br />spa,locker room and nursery with construction of an Education Wing with six classrooms,a weight <br />room,patron lounge,game room and a Cardio-Fitness facility while also constructing a maintenance <br />building and expanded parking facilities thereby increasing the Center’s net worth to $6 million; <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Prince William Board of County <br />Supervisors does hereby commend John Harper,Jr.for his service to the Dale City Recreation Center and <br />expresses appreciation for his numerous contributions tothe -County and hi-.servicetathe community. <br />Votes: <br />Ayes:Barg,Caddigan,Hill,Jenkins,McQuigg,Seefeldt,Thompson,Wilbourn <br />Nays:None <br />Absent from Vote:None <br />Absent from Meeting:None <br />CERTIFIED COPY <br />Depu~33Clerk~iothe Board
