MOTION:JENKINS March 11,1997 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND:HILL Res.No,97-198 <br />RE:PARTICIPATION IN AND APPROVAL OF THE FY 1998 REVENUE <br />SHARING/MATCHABLE FUNDS ROAD PROGRAM <br />ACTION:APPROVED <br />WHEREAS,the improvement of County roads is a top priority with the Prince <br />William Board of County Supervisors;and <br />WHEREAS,the Commonwealth of Virginia has established a revenue sharing <br />program to allow local jurisdictions to match state funds to improve roadways within their <br />boundaries;and <br />WHEREAS,funds in the amount of $500,000 for Prince William County’s <br />participation in the Revenue Sharing/Matchable Funds Road Program have been included in the <br />County Executive’s FY 1998 recommended budget;and <br />WHEREAS,the Virginia Department of Transportation will contribute up to <br />$500,000 and participate jointly with Prince William County in the FY 1998 Revenue Sharing <br />Program in accordance with provisions of Section 33.1-75.1 of the Code of Virginia 1950,et <br />seq.;and <br />WHEREAS,the Department of Public Works staff has worked with individual <br />supervisors to identi~rprojects for the FY 1998 Revenue Sharing Program;and <br />WHEREAS,in order to streamline the application process,the Virginia <br />Department of Transportation requires FY 1998 Revenue Sharing projects to be listed in a <br />prioritized order;and <br />WHEREAS,the deadline for submitting a list of proposed Revenue Sharing <br />projects,including cost estimates,is March 21,1997;and <br />WHEREAS,the Board of County Supervisors recognizes that the lowest listed <br />priority could be deferred due to insufficient funding; <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Prince William Board of <br />County Supervisors does hereby designate projects as the Prince William County FY 1998 <br />Revenue Sharing Program as shown below:
