MOTION: NOHE February 2, 2010 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND: PRINCIPI Ord. No. 10 -04 <br />RE: COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT #PLN2008 -00202 <br />TRANSPORTATION AND MASS TRANSIT PLAN UPDATE ALL <br />MAGISTERIAL DISTRICTS <br />ACTION: APPROVED <br />WHEREAS, under Section 15.2 -2229 of the Code of Virginia, Ann., the Board <br />of County Supervisors may consider amendments to the Comprehensive Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors initiated <br />consideration of Comprehensive Plan Amendment #PLN2008- 00202, Transportation and Mass <br />Transit Plan Update, on June 24, 2008, and referred it to the Prince William County Planning <br />Commission; and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission duly considered citizen input during <br />numerous work sessions and at two public hearings on October 8, 2008 and December 3, 2008; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, at its December 3, 2008 public hearing, the Planning Commission <br />voted to recommend adoption subject to amendments, as stated in its Resolution 08 -162; and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission reaffirmed their recommendation on <br />January 6, 2010, as stated in Resolution 10 -008, and with additional recommendations as stated <br />in Resolutions 10 -004, 10 -005, 10 -006, and 10 -007; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors held work <br />sessions on March 17, 2009, June 16, 2009, and December 8, 2009 and seven town hall <br />meetings throughout the County between June 2009 to October 2009, and received citizen and <br />business /development community input on the update; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors duly ordered, <br />advertised and held a public hearing on January 19, 2010, at which time public testimony was <br />received and the merits of the above - referenced comprehensive plan amendment were <br />considered; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors directed staff to <br />incorporate additional changes into the proposed text for consideration at the February 2, 2010 <br />regular meeting; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors believes that the <br />public general welfare as well as good planning practices are served by the adoption of this <br />comprehensive plan amendment; <br />
