MOTION:HILL March 11,1997 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND:BARG Res.No.97-179 <br />RE:PROCLAIM -MARCH 1997 -PRINCE WiLLIAM CHAPTER 0?THE <br />AMERICAN RED CROSS MONTH <br />ACTION:APPROVED <br />WHEREAS,the American Red Cross has provided humanitarian services to <br />meet the multiple needs ofthe American people for over 100 years;and <br />WHEREAS,the Prince William Chapter of the American Red Cross has <br />provided for these needs to residents ofthe County since 1917;and <br />WHEREAS,the Chapter provides disaster preparedness and relief for County <br />residents;and <br />WHEREAS,the Chapter provides assistance to members of the Armed Forces, <br />veterans and their families in the County;and <br />WHEREAS,the Chapter’s Blood Donor Recruitment Program assists in <br />providing 95%of the blood needs in area hospitals;and <br />WHEREAS,the Chapter assists the County residents through its educational <br />programs by teaching First Aid,Water Safety,Nursing and Health courses;and <br />WHEREAS,the adult and youth residents who volunteer their time to provide <br />these services show true dedication and unselfish devotion to others in the County; <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that in recognition of the work the <br />Chapter is doing in Prince William County,the Prince William Board of County Supervisors <br />does hereby proclaim the month of March 1997 as “Prince William Chapter of the American Red <br />Cross Month”and commends the Chapter on its outstanding and continued service to the <br />residents of the County; <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Supervisors does <br />hereby urge the residents ofthe County to support the American Red Cross by contributing to <br />the Chapter’s membership enrollment campaign. <br />Votes: <br />Ayes:Barg,Caddigan,Hill,Jenkins,McQuigg,Seefeldt,Thompson,Wilbourn <br />Nays:None <br />Absent from Vote:None <br />Absent from Meeting:None <br />CERTIFIED COPY
