MOTION:JENKINS March 4,1997 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND:HILL Res,No,97-154 <br />RE:PROCLAIM MARCH 1997 AS “WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH IN <br />PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY” <br />ACTION:APPROVED <br />WHEREAS,the women of Virginia helped found this great nation and served as <br />early leaders of every major progressive social movement;and <br />WHEREAS,the women of this nation have provided the vision,the labor and <br />the commitment to help establish many charitable,educational and cultural institutions;and <br />WHEREAS,the contributions and accomplishments ofwomen have been <br />consistently undervalued in the annals of American history;and <br />WHEREAS,women of every race and creed continue to be a part of our <br />evolving economic,social and political life,and the United States Congress and the <br />Commonwealth of Virginia have both designated March as ‘Women’s History Month”; <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Prince William Board of <br />County Supervisors does hereby proclaim the month of March as “Women’s History Month in <br />Prince William County”and urge all citizens to participate in events commemorating the <br />significance ofwomen’s contributions throughout our nation,in the Commonwealth and <br />especially within our own community. <br />Votes: <br />Ayes:Barg,Caddigan,Hill,Jenkins,McQuigg,Seefeldt,Thompson,Wilbourn <br />Nays:None <br />Absent from Vote:None <br />Absent from Meeting:None <br />For Information: <br />Director,Office for Women <br />CERTIFIED COPY <br />lerk to the Board
