MOTION:JENKINS February 18,1997 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND:BARG Res,No.97-138 <br />RE:ADOPT THE PUBLIC SAFETY RADIO COMMUNICATIONS <br />COMMITTEE REPORT AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />ACTION:APPROVED <br />WHEREAS,the Prince William County Public Safety Radio Communications <br />Committee (the “Committee”)has studied and reviewed the public safety radio communications <br />requirements for the County;and <br />WHEREAS,the Committee has submitted its final report and recommendations <br />to the Board ofCounty Supervisors;and <br />WHEREAS,the Board of County Supervisors concurs with the <br />recommendations of the Committee; <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Prince William Board of <br />County Supervisors does hereby adopt and approve the following recommendations of the <br />Prince William County Public Safety Radio Communications Committee: <br />(1)There is a need for a new public safety radio communications systent <br />(2)The 800 MHz digital trunked radio technology is the technology of <br />choice. <br />(3)Support for a radio communications system which meets the FCC Health <br />Standards as defined in the Telecommunications Act of 1996. <br />(4)Endorses the Public and Private Telecommunications Antenna and Tower <br />Siting Criteria contained in the Committee’s report.In so doing,the <br />Committee established 11 priorities for tower locations with residential <br />development being the last two priorities. <br />(5)It is not necessary to have an outside consultant review the needs <br />assessment issues.It is recognized that a consultant may be required to <br />provide technical assistance during the development of the radio system.
