MOTION:BARG January 7,1997 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND:CADDIGAN Res.No,97-20 <br />RE:“REVISION OF COMMISSION FOR WOMEN MISSION <br />STATEMENT” <br />ACTION:APPROVED <br />WHEREAS,the Prince William Board of County Supervisors acknowledges the <br />need to devote greater attention to the significant issues of concern to women in the community, <br />including housing,day care,transportation,employment,credit,counseling,education,legal <br />information,insurance,health considerations,discrimination and support groups;and <br />WHEREAS,the Board established the Commission for Women in June 1989 to <br />advise the Board on significant issues of concern to women in the community and to recommend <br />policies and programs to address these issues;and <br />WHEREAS,the Commission for Women proposed a mission statement (Res. <br />No.90-3 14)accepted by the Board April 10,1990;and <br />WHEREAS,the Commission for Women has revisited this mission statement <br />and feels that some changes are needed in the wording of its mission statement to reflect its <br />commitment to all women of the County and in order to better develop a work plan to address <br />the needs of women in the County; <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Prince William Board of <br />County Supervisors does hereby approve the revised mission statement for the Prince William <br />Commission for Women as set forth and attached hereto. <br />ATTACHMENT <br />Votes: <br />Ayes:Barg,Caddigan,Hill,Jenkins,McQuigg,Seefeldt,Thompson,Wilbourn <br />Nays:None <br />Absent from Vote:None <br />Absent from Meeting:None <br />For Information <br />Director,Office for Women <br />CERTIFIED COPY 6~A~(Y(2~i&Z~ <br />Oe~tto the Board
