MOTION:MCQUIGG April 21,1997 <br />Special Meeting <br />SECOND:BARG Res,No.97-343 <br />RE:REVISIONS TO THE BUiLDING DEVELOPMENT FEE SCHEDULE <br />ACTION:APPROVED <br />WHEREAS,Section 36-105 of the Code of Virginia and the Prince William <br />County Code,Chapter 5 Buildings and Building Regulations,Section 5-19 Permit and <br />Inspection Fees provides for the Board of County Supervisors to adopt a fee schedule to defray <br />the cost of enforcement of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code;and <br />WHEREAS,the Proposed FY1998 Fiscal Plan recommended three new <br />expenditure items in the Building Development Division Budget;and <br />WHEREAS,staff will recommend in the future that excess FY1997 revenues be <br />used to support the automation initiative originally proposed in the FY1998 Fiscal Plan;and <br />WHEREAS,the Proposed FYi 998 Fiscal Plan has been revised and <br />recommends two new positions in the Building Development Division Budget that requires <br />additional revenues;and <br />WHEREAS,the Building Development Fee Schedule is proposed to increase <br />the fees for residential and commercial construction by approximately 5%which will generate <br />$150,000 to support the revised Proposed FY1998 Fiscal Plan;and <br />WHEREAS,additional increases and decreases to the fee schedule are proposed <br />that are intended to be revenue neutral and are intended to improve customer service by <br />increasing the efficiency of existing staff and to make adjustments to charge the appropriate <br />amount for the level of effort for the associated tasks;and <br />WHEREAS,the Prince William Board of County Supervisors held a public <br />hearing on April 7,1997 at 7:30 P.M.at the Stonewall Jackson High School and continued on <br />April 8,1997 at 7:30 P.M.at the Woodbridge High School to consider revisions to the Building <br />Development Fee Schedule attached hereto and incorporated herein; <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Prince William Board of <br />County Supervisors does hereby adopt the Building Development Fee Schedule attached hereto <br />and incorporated herein effective July 1,1997.
