MOTION:MCQUIGG April 8,1997 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND:CADDIGAN Res.No.97-277 <br />RE:VIRGINIA UNIFORM STATEWIDE BUILDING CODE/1996 <br />ACTION:APPROVED <br />WHEREAS,the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Community and Housing <br />Development has adopted the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code/1996,effective April <br />15,1997;and <br />WHEREAS,the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code/i 996,Section <br />107.1 Application for Permit,establishes an exception for obtaining a permit for the <br />replacement of mechanical and plumbing equipment,appliances and fixtures,electrical fixtures, <br />reroofing,residing,windows and doors with that of similar or greater capacity in the same <br />location for townhouses and detached single family dwellings;and <br />WHEREAS,the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Community and Housing <br />Development will suspend the effective date of Section 107.1 Application for Permit of the <br />Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code/i996 and will conduct additional public hearings; <br />and <br />WHEREAS,the Prince William Board of County Supervisors believes that <br />homeowners of townhouses and detached single family houses should not be required to obtain <br />permits for the repair and replacement of existing equipment and fixtures; <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Prince William Board of <br />County Supervisors does hereby request that the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Housing <br />and Community Development retain the exception for obtaining a permit for the repair and <br />replacement of existing equipment and fixtures in townhouses and detached single family <br />dwellings as published in The Virginia Register of Regulations,dated March 3,1997,13 VAC <br />5-61-80 attached hereto; <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Prince William Board of County <br />Supervisors does hereby direct that this Resolution be forwarded to the Commonwealth of <br />Virginia Board of Housing and Community Development.
