MOTION:HILL April 8,1997 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND:CADDIGAN Res,No.97-272 <br />SUBJECT:RATIFY GRANT SUBMISSION TO VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />MOTOR VEHICLES COMMUNITY TRAFFIC SAFETY PROGRAM; <br />POLICE TRAFFIC SERVICES-S 1,500 -RADAR EQUIPMENT <br />ACTION:APPROVED <br />WHEREAS,the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles has announced the <br />Grants for Community Traffic Safety programs that will make funding available to local law <br />enforcement jurisdictions a new aggressive driving campaign;and <br />WHEREAS,the Prince William County Police Department has submitted a <br />grant request for $1,500 to buy radar equipment;and <br />WHEREAS,the Community Traffic Safety programs support Strategy 5 of the <br />Public Safety Strategic Plan;and <br />WHEREAS,no local match is required for reimbursement of these funds;and <br />WHEREAS,the Prince William County Police Department will act as Project <br />Administrator of these funds;and <br />WHEREAS,the Prince William County Finance Department agrees to be the <br />Fiscal Agent for expenditure of these funds; <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Prince William Board of <br />County Supervisors does hereby ratify the application and further approves the Prince William <br />County Police Department to accept this grant upon approval and sign appropriate documents; <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Prince William County Board of <br />Supervisors does hereby budget and appropriates an amount not to exceed $1,500 in total FY97 <br />budget increases related to the grant contingent upon the grant award. <br />Votes: <br />Ayes:Barg,Caddigan,Hill,Jenkins,McQuigg,Seefeldt,Thompson,Wilbourn <br />Nays:None <br />Absent from Vote:None <br />Absent from Meeting:None <br />For Information: <br />Chief of Police <br />Finance Director <br />CERTIFIED COPY lerk1ot2B~’~”~~(
