MOTION:HILL April 8,1997 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND:CADDIGAN Res.No,97-264 <br />RE:PROCLAIM INTERNATIONAL BUILDING SAFETY WEEK <br />ACTION:APPROVED <br />WHEREAS,the safety of the buildings we occupy daily is essential to the <br />health,safety and welfare of the citizens of the world;and <br />WHEREAS,among the world’s most fundamental laws and ordinances are <br />those which provide standards for the safe construction of buildings in which people live,work <br />and play;and <br />WHEREAS,for construction and building codes to be effective and enforced, <br />understanding and cooperation must exist between code officials and the people they serve;and <br />WHEREAS,through the efforts of code officials worldwide,and their <br />cooperative relationship with the construction industry,the administration of these health and <br />life-safety standards is assured;and <br />WHEREAS,units of government across the world are joining along with such <br />organizations as the Building Officials and Code Administrators International,the Council of <br />American Building Officials,and the World Organization of Building Officials to promote the <br />use of building and construction codes for a lifetime of building safety; <br />NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Prince William Board of <br />County Supervisors does hereby proclaim the week of April 6,1997 as International Building <br />Safety Week. <br />Votes: <br />Ayes:Barg,Caddigan,Hill,Jenkins,McQuigg,Seefeldt,Thompson,Wilbourn <br />Nays:None <br />Absent from Vote:None <br />Absent from Meeting:None <br />For information: <br />Deputy County Executive <br />Director of Public Works <br />Clerk to the Board <br />CERTIFIED COPY
