MOTION: COVINGTON April 5 2045 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND: CADDICAN Ord. No. 05-23 <br />RE: AMEND ARTICLE III, SECTION 26-8, PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY <br />CODE, TO ESTABLISH AN OPTION FOR SENIOR CITIZENS AND <br />DISABLED PERSONS TO PAY REAL ESTATE TAXES IN MONTHLY <br />INSTALLMENTS <br />ACTION: APPROVED <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Supervisors, desires to create an installment <br />option for senior citizens and disabled persons to pay real estate taxes, without penalty, <br />monthly rather than semi-annually; and <br />WHEREAS, Code of Virginia § 58.1-3916.02 allows such an option by local <br />ordinance; and <br />WHEREAS, such an option fulfills the Board directive in Resolution 03-303 <br />and Resolution 04-456; and <br />WHEREAS, a public hearing, duly advertised in a local newspaper for a period <br />of two weeks, was conducted on April 5, 2005 and interested citizens were given an <br />opportunity to comment on the proposed ordinance; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the Prince William Board of <br />County Supervisors does hereby adopt the attached amendments to Article III, Section 26-8, of <br />the Prince William County Code, for the purpose of establishing an option allowing senior <br />citizens and disabled persons to pay certain real estate taxes in monthly installments. <br />ATTACHMENT: Amendments to Article III, Section 26-8, Prince William County Code <br />Votes: <br />Ayes:Barg, Caddigan, Connaughton, Covington, Jenkins, Nohe, Stewart, Stirrup <br />Nays: None <br />Absent from Vote: None <br />Absent from Meeting: None <br />
