MOTION: STEWART April 5, 2005 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND: JENKINS Ord_ No. 05-20 <br />RE: IMPLEMENT SECTION 13-320.1 OF THE PRINCE WILLIAM <br />COUNTY CODE TO RESTRICT THE ON -STREET PARKING OF <br />BOAT TRAILERS AND SIMILAR VEHICLES ON EASTHAM COURT - <br />OCCOQUAN MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT <br />ACTION: APPROVED <br />WHEREAS, pavement widths in Eastham Court vary with on -street parking; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Eastham Court was not designed or intended to provide for the on - <br />street parking of trailers, watercraft, boat trailers, motor homes and camping trailers; and <br />WHEREAS, the parking of boat trailers and similar vehicles causes safety <br />concerns on Eastham Court; and <br />WHEREAS, the on -street parking of trailers, watercraft, boat trailers, <br />motor homes and camping trailers detract from the attractiveness of a neighborhood; and <br />WHEREAS, on January 12, 2005, the Department of Public Works received a <br />petition from the residents of Eastham Court requesting the Board of County Supervisors to <br />restrict the parking of trailers, watercraft, boat trailers, motor homes and camping trailers on <br />Eastham Court where the district hereby created is depicted on the attached map which shows <br />"Proposed Parking Area Covered by Petition;" and <br />WHEREAS, the petition contained the signatures of two out of three <br />households (66%) in support of the ordinance; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 13-320.1 of the Prince William <br />County Code, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, following duly advertised <br />notice in a local newspaper for a period of two weeks, conducted a public hearing on April 5, <br />2005, to obtain public comments to restrict on -street parking of trailers, watercraft, boat <br />trailers, motor homes and camping trailers; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William County Police Department will be <br />responsible for enforcing the restriction; <br />
