MOTION: JENKINS February 1, 2005 <br />Regular Meeting <br />SECOND: CADDIGAN Ord. No. 05-11 <br />RE: IMPLEMENT SECTION 13-320.1 OF THE PRINCE WILLIAM <br />COUNTY CODE TO RESTRICT THE ON -STREET PARKING OF <br />BOAT TRAILERS AND SIMILAR VEHICLES IN THE CARDINAL <br />OAKS COMMUNITY — DUMFRIES AND NEABSCO MAGISTERIAL <br />DISTRICTS <br />ACTION: APPROVED <br />WHEREAS, pavement widths in Cardinal Oaks vary with on -street parking; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the roads within Cardinal Oaks were not designed or intended to <br />provide for the on -street parking of trailers, watercraft, boat trailers, motor homes and camping <br />trailers; and <br />WHEREAS, the parking of boat trailers and similar vehicles causes safety <br />problems in Cardinal Oaks; and <br />WHEREAS, the on -street parking of trailers, watercraft, boat trailers, motor <br />homes and camping trailers detract from the attractiveness of a neighborhood; and <br />WHEREAS, on December 3, 2004, the Department of Public Works received a <br />petition from the Cardinal Oaks Homeowners Association requesting the Prince William Board <br />of County Supervisors restrict the parking of trailers, watercraft, boat trailers, motor homes and <br />camping trailers in Cardinal Oaks; where the district hereby created is depicted on the attached <br />map which shows "Proposed Parking Area Covered by Petition"; and <br />WHEREAS, the petition contained the signatures of 37 out of 62 households <br />(59%) in support of the ordinance; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 13-320.1 of the Prince William County <br />Code, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, following duly advertised notice in a <br />local newspaper for a period of two weeks, conducted a public hearing on February 1, 2005, to <br />obtain public comments to restrict on -street parking of trailers, watercraft, boat trailers, motor <br />homes and camping trailers; and <br />WHEREAS, the Prince William County Police Department will be responsible <br />for enforcing the restriction; <br />
